The inaugural Richardson’s Family Holidays RetroRide is an excuse to press the pause button on our busy everyday lives and relive the bikes, kit and lifestyle of days gone by. Dig out and dust down that old bike and relive days gone by. If you still have kit from the past, shake it down and squeeze it on for that Retro feel.
The RetroRide is a short and easy 10 or 25 mile loop from our Whitlingham Broad event village into the South Norfolk lanes and offers the opportunity to ride, natter and gawp at bikes from a hand-crafted era where every bike seemed different to the next. Back at the event village you will be welcomed back and invited to parade through the finishing lane to show off your steed and encouraged to display your bike in the respective entry-class for an informal Concours d’Elegance. We also have a special coveted prize for the best male and female attired bike and rider combo !

Every entrant can expect a warm welcome, a souvenir RetroRide Bike Plaque and refreshment from our event Partner Adnams or one of our artisan Coffee or cool drink partners. RetroRide participants are warmly encouraged to make a weekend of it by riding the following day’s Tour de Broads and to say thank you we will offer you a free pint of Adnams ale, zero alcohol beer, artisan coffee or your favourite soft drink on us – just show us both rider plaques on the Sunday to claim your gift.
For our inaugural event, we have a special entry class to celebrate the history, glamour and ingenuity of that great British tradition of Time Trialling with our Legends of TT class. If you still have your old TT bike then come and join our celebration of all things TT and meet old friends of days gone by. No-where else in the World are so many TTs held on a weekly basis on courses with coded names, bikes with home-made modifications, aerodynamic devices like skin-hoods in the 1980’s and crazily drilled and lightened components in the 1970’s. Many of our celebrated national cycling heroes started with TTs and went on to win the World’s biggest races and Olympics. TT’s have always been an eccentrically British tradition and long may it continue!
Event Village Opens at 12pm and will stay open until late. We are using the same 25 mile route as the Tour De Broads the next day so please follow the arrows on the day.
